Lowcountry Orphan Relief

Joe Good sits on the Board of the the Lowcountry Orphan Relief (LOR). Lowcountry Orphan Relief & Midlands Orphan Relief work directly with other non-profits, schools, foster parents, and government agencies to identify the individual needs of these and other children in severe situations. We intervene at critical junctures in the lives of these children, with products and services that provide a strong, positive impact. Since 2007, we have clothed over 45,000 children in the Tri-County area.

Community volunteers at our Distribution Center collect and shelve donations. They lovingly fill Care Kits of necessary items for children from area shelters, foster care and those removed from the custody of their parents. The Care Kits include 2 weeks of clothing, toiletries, shoes, books, stuffed animals, and school supplies and we aim to fill all orders within 48 hours of the request.

LOR partners with over 50+ title 1 schools to provide emergency clothing closets. These closets are for children who attend school and have an emergency need during the day. These closets provide underwear, socks, uniforms, shirts, pants and toiletries. This program instills confidence and promotes a positive learning environment for the youth that we serve.

St Michaels Church

Joe Good is also the solicitor for the Vestry of St Michaels Church.

St. Michael’s Mission Task Force (MTF) is a volunteer team to promote, coordinate, and direct congregational involvement in mission ministries across three areas: The Holy City focused on local missions in the Charleston area, the Hurting Coast focused on U.S. missions (primarily east coast), and the Hungering World focused on missions around the world. We maintain active mission partnerships in each of these three areas and provide many ways for St. Michael’s members to be engaged in mission throughout the year.

Are you interested in volunteering with one of our mission partners? Going on a short-term mission? Do you want to help with next year's GIC? Then fill out our Interest in Mission card and return to the church office. Interest in Mission Card
